Since opening our doors in 1997, Shakerag has been rated one of the best elementary schools in Fulton County, offering its students an excellent learning environment as well as many fun educational activities, programs and events. We have strong parent and community-based support at Shakerag and are proud of our initiatives to continuously develop positive relations with our stakeholders.
Overall, we believe our students are in a comfortable and positive learning environment. Our parents are encouraged to be involved in many events and classroom-specific activities. Our staff continues to provide quality academics while taking on the challenge of learning new materials through the changes initiated through the GPS, and are learning the Professional Learning Community concept of working collaboratively to evaluate and improve student learning for all students. Our business community is very complimentary of our partners program and they believe that their contributions make a difference.
Shakerag Elementary School Foundation, Inc.
We all understand the constant financial stresses that educators must deal with and the frustration of knowing that "things could be much better" with additional funding. Shakerag's Foundation is a non-profit organization with the express purpose of enhancing and enriching the educational experience of our children by developing relationships with our business community.

By collaborating with community members and local businesses, we believe the Foundation will augment the PTA's financial support of our school. Shakerag's Foundation has raised funds through 3 Golf Tournaments, 2 Fun Runs, and last year’s Faculty Game.
Because of these fundraising efforts, the Foundation has been able to purchase Prometheans (electronic white boards) for all of our 5th grade classes, as well as 2 computer labs, playground equipment, facility enhancements, printers for all classroom teachers, classroom libraries for Kindergarten through 2nd grades.The Foundation also provides a nominal reimbursement program to classroom teachers for out-of-pocket expenses. |
